MEET THE TRAINERS
Adam Durrant has been training for the past 13 years. He has had great success with horses such as Mr Moet, Star Exhibit, Real Love, Come Play With Me, Lords Ransom, Enticing Star and has won races to the calibre of the Group 1 Railway Stakes and Perth Cup three times.
Adam has won the Trainers Premiership 8 of the past 11 years and continues to have an excellent strike rate. His hands on approach gives him the advantage of knowing exactly what is going on with all of his horses. In his 18/19 season he trained a record 79 metropolitan winners.
Pearce Racing is an emerging powerhouse in WA racing, with the brotherly combination of Daniel and Ben Pearce already achieving huge success in their first two seasons in partnership.
Training from a unique rural stable base in Karnup, they have prepared more than 100 winners over the past two years, including victories in the Group 2 Karrakatta Plate, Group 3 Roma Cup, Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes and six listed events. Also considered among the state’s industry leaders in owner communication, the stable succeeds both on-and-off the track and always welcome new faces to join their team.
MEET THE JOCKEYS
Mollie Clark had always dreamt of being a jockey, and her dream came true on July 18th, 2015 with her first ride on a mount called Secondment for boss at the time Brett Pope. Her first winner came in Mount Magnet on Gannochy for Phil Bland.
Mollie has ridden at 26 of the 34 race tracks in WA, with a goal to ride at all at least once.
In 2016 Mollie represented WA in the Apprentice Cup challenge at Murray Bridge in Adelaide. Mollies Cup ride - Another Man's Gain - for Dick Leech drew barrier three and with the run of the race, won by half a length. To date this is Mollies biggest career highlight, followed by riding four consecutive winners at Carnarvon for Michelle Valentine in June 2016. Mollie also won Leading Country Apprentice in WA that year.
Mollie rode her first Metropolitan winner for leading trainers Grant & Alana Williams on Clobberetta August 2016. In early 2017 Mollie was unfortunately involved in a race fall at Ascot that put her out for 10 months due to injuries, but that didn’t stop her from chasing her dreams.
To date Mollie has has 1,014 rides with 86 winners & 270 placegetters. Being a jockey for Mollie has definitely been a dream come true!
Renee Forrest entered racing at the age of 17, having never ridden a horse before. She fulfilled a lifelong dream and ignited a passion.
Forrest’s first career ride came on board Manhattan at Pinjarra in 2011. Forrest had her first big win on Terminado in the Ladies Day Cup in Northam in 2012. She was awarded Apprentice of the Year & leading jockey in Geraldton for the 2013/14 season. She followed this up with a big win in the Batavia Sprint on $10 shot Fundamental, for Kim Anderson. A few months later she won on Benito in the Thunderbolt 1000m at Ascot. Forrest went on to win the David Beckett Award for Excellence & was awarded all round apprentice for the 2014/15 season.
Finishing up her apprenticeship in July 2015, Forrest not long after was unfortunately struck with injury & sidelined for 6 months. Throughout her riding career she has had her fair share of injuries, but she just keeps bouncing back doing what she loves.
Forrest has had 2365 rides to date for 185 winners, 239 seconds & 268 thirds. This will be Forrest’s third Rockingham Beach Cup, hopefully third times a charm & the cup will be hers.
