Rockingham Beach Cup
The Rockingham Beach Cup is an iconic two-day celebration showcasing Western Australia’s only beach horse racing experience. It is set against the stunning Rockingham Foreshore and brings locals and visitors together for a vibrant weekend of entertainment, community connection and coastal fun.
The Rockingham Beach Cup is a community-organised racing event, led by Rotary Club of Palm Beach WA.
14 - 15 November 2026, with the horse racing on the 15th
There are four exhibition races, with five horses competing in each race.
The track is 800m long – which is a much shorter than most regular thoroughbred races. The track is graded after each race.
There is a minimum of 45 minutes between races and a one-hour break before the final.
There are 20 separate stable areas, which are all under shaded marquee cover and have full airflow.
Yes. There is water available in each stall.
In addition to trainers and owners caring for their own horses, there is a Racing Manager, Track Manager, Stable Manager, Strappers and Clerks of Course.

Yes. These include heart rate, temperature, capillary refill and trot up checks.
Beach work is common as a training practice in terms of building fitness as a part of regular horse training regime. The water also has a positive effect for the horses in terms of cooling and recovery for their ligaments and joints.

The time of year when the event is held usually provides suitable weather, but the conditions are constantly monitored.

No. There is no gambling associated with the Rockingham Beach Cup.
Funds raised through the Rockingham Beach Cup support important causes, including Variety – the Children’s Charity, MSWA and Palm Beach Rotary community projects.
Yes, people get the opportunity to get closer than usual to the racehorses, both on the beach and through Racing WA’s Off the Track WA stall.
There is ample free parking at Anzac Park during the event.
EFTPOS facilities will be available at the Palm Beach Oasis presented by Sound Tax & Accounting, for food and beverage purchases.
Should you need, ATM facilities are available within a 5-minute walk from the event.

This year our inclusive licensed area will consist of both grass and sand. We recommend wearing beach appropriate footwear – such as a dressy sandal.
On Sunday doors to Palm Beach Oasis presented by Sound Tax & Accounting opening from 11:00am. The event will conclude at 5:30pm.
We will have gourmet food trucks available in the licensed area that will accommodate for a range of dietary requirements. If these don't suit your needs there will also be a large range of options available in the community festival that you are welcome to bring back into the ticketed area.
Please leave your pet at home. Service dogs permitted.
Yes, facilities will be available for those with special needs to easily access the Festival.
